Becoming a Volunteer

Volunteering requires no previous job experience; you contribute the skills that you already have. Serving under the direct supervision of experienced professionals, you have an opportunity to use your talents as well as to learn new skills.

We are currently looking for energetic people interested in mentoring our youth. Thank you for considering this opportunity to give to our community.

Reading: Work one on one with elementary school children needing to practice and improve their reading skills. The volunteers will work in the TLC after school program with the Reading Teacher who will select the books at the child's reading level or the work the child needs to work on. The reading program is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at AME School during the school year.

Homework: Work one on one with elementary school children or teens needing extra guidance with their homework. Homework help is needed Monday through Thursdays from 3:00 -6:00 PM. Elementary children are at AME school and the teens are at the Community Center.

Any time you can give would be greatly appreciated. Volunteering and being an important part of a child's educational success is a very rewarding experience and an essential part of our program.
