TLC PROGRAM
Over 1,175 children participate in one or more of the Center’s after school educational,
or recreational leadership development activities. T.L.C. is our Time for Learning Creatively
after-School, Schools Out, (holiday camp) and Summer Camp Program. As the sole provider of these
services in our community, AMICC seeks to provide quality programs for all youth, especially those
who would be home alone without our programs.
We are very excited to share with you information about the Time to Enrich K-5
Activity Program that the staff at Anna Maria Island Community Center have recently
adopted as part of its comprehensive before and after school curriculum program.
Time to Enrich was designed by Girls and Boys Town, a well-recognized nonprofit
organization that has been assisting children and families since 1917.
The Time to Enrich Activity Program complements our goals of addressing the
dynamic needs of the whole child - physical, emotional, social, and academic.
The following areas of youth development will be addressed:
|
- Social Development - To build character and enhance psychological or social development.
- Education - To develop academic skills.
- Recreation - To provide physical activities that teach sportsmanship and let youth have fun.
- Healthy Living - To promote self-esteem and nutritional awareness, improve hygiene skills, and to
enhance physical health.
|
|
- Citizenship - To build a sense of community, promote volunteerism, and provide youth a chance to give
back to their community.
- Career Awareness - To help youth learn about careers, prepare for employment, or learn more about
further educational opportunities.
In addition to the Time to Enrich Prgram, homework, computer skills, mentoring and specialized remediation and tutoring, creative arts,
physical development, recreation, cooking, drama, music, library research, guest speakers, special
performances, and field trips are all part of our after-school and summer camp educational enrichment
programs.
To learn more about the TLC program staff members may be contacted by calling the Center at
